This mixed media project is tactile and BIG, the students enjoyed seeing the visible progress of each phase of the lesson.   They were able to experiment with a variety of mediums and materials.  To create paper for the collage, students were introduced to ‘musical automatic’ drawing. In automatic drawing, the hand is allowed to move "randomly" across the paper while being prompted by the music.  Once the paper was torn and collaged,  an exploration of tone and texture were used to illustrate animal details, using paint and oil pastels. The project involves multiple art making techniques of drawing, blending, painting and collage, students were able to refine their skills and techniques.
